Astrology with Jo Mama

Well hello there star gazers, I'm Jo Mama and I hope you’re sitting comfortably.

In the late 1960s the Italian film making legend, Federico Fellini, (whose sign is Capricorn) cast English comedy legend, Peter Cook in his film, Satyricon. Cook was rather taken aback when, out of the blue,  he received a phone call telling him it was all off simply because Fellini had discovered Cook was a Scorpio. Scorpios are known to be obsessive, secretive, vengeful, controlling and intimidating. Do you think “Cuddly” Dudley Moore (Libra) enjoyed being Cook’s comedy partner for all those years? I doubt it.

Scorpios are ambitious but tend to be bad guys; Christopher Columbus, Senator McCarthy, Joseph Gerbals, Jimmy Saville, Oswald Moseley all had a sting in their tail. Scorpions have a way with words and a unique sense of humour. Scorpion Rodney Dangerfield was great at gags like, "I haven't spoken to my wife in years. I didn't want to interrupt her."

And Danny DeVito was perfect as the vain and nasty, Louie De Palma in the brilliant, long running sit-com Taxi.

The most famous artist whose sign is Scorpio is Pablo Picasso who, although a genius, is known for rather dodgy, arrogant comments and claims that women are either goddesses or doormats.

But there are a few good guys that were born between October 22 – November 21 such as newly elected President Joe Biden and Michael Landon who played the part of Little Joey in Bonanza.

According to the astrologer Chai Nicholas, Scorpios are “emotionally intense and focused on their aim, resilient and unable to be swayed off course.” Possibly this explains why so many Scorpio women are successful actors who’ve starred in a film directed by Woody Allen; Goldie Hawn, Emma Stone, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson, Demi Moore, Parker Posey and Wynona Ryder are just some of the actors who worked with the Scorpian-friendly director.

David Crosby once had a fling with Scorpio Joni Mitchell. He said the relationship messed him up for years and that it was like putting his feelings in a cement mixer. Joni, like Pablo, is a genius – maybe she also treats her partners as though they are a doormat? I guess she can’t help it?

Next years is going to be challenging for Scorpions – they are going to have 12 months of work, work, work. The planet Saturn will be posited in the third house of their kundli, which means they’ll be forced to put their nose to the grindstone and forget about any holiday plans. There's no rest for the wicked!

Stay safe everybody.

See you next month for more star gazing.
