Henry in the Fairy Garden by Florence Tosic

Henry in the Fairy Garden by Florence Tosic

Florence Tosic made this drawing as part of her application for a Blue Peter badge. It was inspired by watching the programme and she felt compelled to put pencil and pastel to paper. Le Document asked Florence a few question about her thought process behind the work …

Le Document (LD) Do you do a lot of drawing?
Florence Tosic (FT) Yes

LD What is your favourite medium?
FT Paint, especially bright colours.

LD What are you working on at the moment?
FT Nothing in particular, except some colouring pages with my Cats & Kittens magazine.

LD Are there any more Blue Peter badges you might aim for?
FT Yes, I might go for the green badge which is all about environmental issues.

LD We really like the powerful look in Henry’s eye’s; they’re almost hypnotic. Do you have a favourite section in the drawing?

FT I like the whole picture, everything is in balance.

LD What made you want to draw Henry in a Fairy Garden?
FT Because he looks so cute and I thought he would look good in a Fairy Garden.

LD How do feel about your work being selected as Drawing of the Month in Le Document?
FT I felt really happy inside knowing that people like my work.

LD Well done on receiving your Blue Peter badge, we hope it’s the first of many future awards and badges.
FT Thanks
