Songs of the pacific Northwest by Philip J.Thomas

Selected by Chris Tosic

Howdy Document-heads. This month my shop find of the month is a fine example of some old-time folk songs with chords and basic vocal notation. A total of £3.50 was splashed out on this little gem!

The forward in this book gives a great definition of a folk song:

In addition to traditional songs and ballads, the term “folk song” may be given to newer and authored songs of the same general type if the writer’s primary intent is social and communicative rather than commercial

So there you have it. Perhaps you good people might think of Le Document as a “folk magazine” for the very same reasons. We’re just here to spread the word and shine some light on the sort art and culture that maybe gets lost in the long grass of daily life.

The truth lies in the banal so keep your eyes peeled Document-heads!

I’ve uploaded 7 pages, 2 songs with background information.

Until next time, so long for now.
